With the golden colors of fall surrounding Yosemite Valley and just their closest people by their side, Amanda and Matt traveled all the way from North Carolina to create a day that felt intimate, meaningful and completely true to who they are. And with their elopement taking place on October 29, just two days before Halloween, they couldn’t resist adding a little Halloween fun to the adventure.
From getting ready in a cozy cabin to ending the night high above Yosemite Valley at Taft Point, their day was relaxed, emotional, and full of personality. And the best part? This entire Yosemite elopement came together in just over three months.
A Small Yosemite Elopement With the People Who Matter Most
Amanda and Matt kept their guest list intentionally small. Just both sets of their parents and one close friend who had the special role of officiating their ceremony. There is something incredibly special about a wedding that focuses on connection instead of production. Without a large crowd or strict timeline, the day moved naturally. There was time for laughter, quiet moments, and genuine emotions.
One of our favorite moments was watching Amanda’s mom help her into her dress while Matt’s dad pinned his boutonniere just a few rooms away. Those small moments always remind us why intimate weddings feel so meaningful.
When the ceremony began, surrounded by Yosemite’s granite cliffs and golden autumn grass, it felt less like a production and more like a gathering of the people who mattered most.
Fall in Yosemite Is Pure Magic
Have you seen Yosemite in the Fall? Late October in Yosemite is one of our favorite times for elopements. The summer crowds fade, the air turns crisp, and the valley fills with warm autumn tones.
Amanda and Matt timed their elopement perfectly. Golden grasses, glowing trees, and soft fall light created the most beautiful setting for their portraits. After their ceremony, we explored some of Yosemite Valley’s iconic spots together, taking time to soak in the scenery while capturing the quiet joy of their first hours as newlyweds. It felt calm, unrushed, and exactly how an elopement day should feel.
A Halloween Surprise at Taft Point
As the sun began to set, we made our way up Glacier Point Road and hiked out to Taft Point, one of Yosemite’s most dramatic viewpoints. There, with the valley stretching out below them, Amanda and Matt shared private vows meant only for each other.

Pumpkin heads. Yes, pumpkin heads.
Playful, creative, and just a little spooky. Photographing them along the cliffs at sunset, carrying lanterns with their pumpkin heads on was hilariously fun!
The sun dipped behind the mountains, the sky turned soft shades of peach and lavender, and the entire valley glowed beneath them. It was the perfect ending to a Halloween elopement that felt entirely their own.
Planning a Yosemite Elopement in Just Three Months
One thing that surprises many couples is how quickly an elopement can come together.
